RMS

RMS is a Toronto jungle and drum and bass producer whose records keep the old breakbeat foundations close. Alongside his own Dubsoul Recordings, he has released through Dispatch Recordings, Deep in the Jungle, and Inner City Dance, with radio work on Toronto’s Prophecy connecting the studio to the wider scene.

His partnership with Jaybee led to Blueprint 1 and Blueprint 2 on Dispatch in 2025. They had known one another for years before the project came together, finding common ground in breaks, sub bass, and the music they had grown up on.

The working habits were rather different. Jaybee preferred his music loud; RMS favoured a focused session on headphones. Sending stems between countries gave both room to develop an idea before passing it back, and RMS singled out Jaybee’s drum edits as a contribution that brought fresh movement into the tracks.

A connection through NC-17 helped bring the music to Ant TC1 and Dispatch. Dubsoul remains another outlet for RMS’s own productions, including Broad Daylight / Funk Dub.
