OB1 founded Rebel Music in London in January 2019 after years of working with drum and bass labels and distribution. Reggae and the idea of musical rebellion had informed his ambition to run an imprint, but the label keeps its brief open across drum and bass, with artists and their recordings at the centre.
Kolectiv, Creatures, and HLZ are among its contributors. The Rebel Alliance compilations bring producers together, while Rebel One supported the NHS through a charity album. The Dub Wars collections developed across four seasons, giving another shared project room to grow.
The records sit alongside Rebel Transmission broadcasts on Unity DAB, Brixton Radio, and Goatshed. Regular events at London’s Lightbox and The Cause give the label a club presence too, extending OB1’s work beyond the release catalogue.
