Behind the music

About Seba.

Seba is Sebastian Ahrenberg, a Swedish drum and bass producer and DJ associated with atmospheric music and his own Secret Operations. His background in Sweden's rave scene helped develop a catalogue that combines club tracks with music written for longer listening.

The label takes its name from a Sunday club night he ran in the 1990s. In a scene where techno was more dominant, that small event offered a place to hear drum and bass. Secret Operations became a record label in 2002.

His albums include Identity, released in 2013, and Ingaro in 2022. The latter is named after the island outside Stockholm where he grew up. The idea came from its graphic designer, bringing the setting of his everyday life into the record's title and artwork.

Making the album also changed how he thought about arrangements. Rather than assembling several singles, he wanted tracks that fitted together and could hold a listener's attention from beginning to end. That meant reconsidering the long, mix-friendly introductions common in club music, while retaining the rhythmic detail that connects the album to his drum and bass catalogue.
