Selecta J-Man is a jungle and drum and bass producer, DJ, and sound engineer closely involved with Born On Road. His music brings reggae into rolling drum and bass, with studio sessions and dubplates as much a part of his work as the records that reach shops.
Before his Born On Road catalogue developed, he released through Run Tingz Recordings and remixed material for Boom Sound and Chopstick Dubplate. Aries helped him develop his sound and make connections across the jungle scene, while working alongside Kelvin 373, Gold Dubs, and Stivs tied him into the wider collective.
The studio side is worth more than a passing mention. Born On Road credits him with engineering sessions for artists including Protoje, Solo Banton, Eva Lazarus, and Gardna. Those relationships also fed into the crew’s dubplate culture and their 2017 Glastonbury soundclash win.
His releases include the Cease and Sekkle EP, Foundation Style, and Come With It. The latter arrived on Born On Road in 2025, after being played through the festival season. It is a fitting part of a catalogue built around the exchange between studio work and the dance: music that has already had a life with the crew before its wider release.
