Born On Road was established in 2013 because its founders wanted more outlets for ragga jungle. Aries and Kelvin 373 were at the centre of a crew that also included Stivs, Selecta J-Man, and Gold Dubs. Free parties and festivals developed alongside the Bristol label’s recorded releases.
Reggae, dancehall, and bashment remain part of its musical remit alongside jungle, with vocal collaborations appearing throughout the catalogue. Selecta J-Man and MC Spyda made No Sound Can Test, while Crossy and Inja worked together on Over The Edge. Selecta J-Man also joins Kiko Bun on Not Me, and Aries and DJ Gaw’s You features David Boomah.
Bish, AC13, and Gray belong to the later group of producers releasing through the label, continuing the music around its original crew.
