Behind the music

About Sigma.

Sigma are British drum and bass producers Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie. They met while studying in Leeds, where a shared interest in the music became a studio partnership. Their catalogue connects club records with vocal pop songs, rather than following one unchanging sound. In their interview about DAY ONE, the pair described an album bringing together jungle, jump-up and anthemic big-room tracks, continuing their interest in several strands of drum and bass.

Their breakthrough single, Nobody To Love, began as a freely shared reworking of Kanye West's Bound 2. Re-recorded for its commercial release, it reached number one in the UK in April 2014. Changing, with Paloma Faith, and Glitterball, with Ella Henderson, extended that approach. The albums Life in 2015 and Hope in 2022 brought their songwriting and collaborations together in longer form.

On 2024's London Sound, the pair returned to memories of growing up around London's rave culture. In their Apple Music track-by-track interview, they described the period after the pandemic as an opportunity to reconnect with the music that had first excited them. The record draws on those earlier experiences while retaining their interest in voices and direct melodies. For visitors arriving through the pop singles, it provides a route back towards the club music and shared listening that first brought Edwards and Lenzie together.
