Ekko & Sidetrack are an Australian drum and bass duo made up of brothers Jeff and Jonathan Hansen. Based in Perth, they have built an international reputation for their melodic, emotionally charged productions and high-energy DJ performances. Growing up in a musically inclined family, the pair were exposed to a wide range of styles, which later influenced their diverse approach to production.
Initially drawn to electronic music through acts like The Prodigy and Pendulum, they began producing drum and bass together in the late 2000s. Their early releases quickly gained attention within the scene, leading to support from major platforms such as UKF and BBC Radio 1. Known for crafting tracks that balance uplifting melodies with driving basslines, Ekko & Sidetrack have released on respected labels including Viper Recordings, UKF Music and Liquicity.
The brothers’ work often blends cinematic atmospheres with vocal-led hooks, creating tracks that work equally well on radio and in club settings. Notable releases include Let The Light In, Paper Birds, Synchronise and their collaborations with artists such as Lee Mvtthews and ShockOne. Their sound continues to evolve while staying rooted in an accessible, festival-ready drum and bass style.
Alongside their studio output, Ekko & Sidetrack are accomplished performers, appearing at events and festivals across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK. Their sets are known for their energy, flow and connection with audiences, reflecting the same passion and detail found in their productions. With a steadily growing global following, the duo remain committed to pushing their sound forward and representing Australian drum and bass on the world stage.
