About The Panacea.
The Panacea is the drum and bass project of German producer Mathis Mootz. His early releases as Panacea brought the emerging techstep sound into contact with industrial music and digital hardcore, a combination developed across Low Profile Darkness in 1997 and Twisted Designz the following year.
His relationship with Position Chrome reaches beyond releasing his own records. Mootz took over A&R duties when the label was still known as Chrome, and later became its owner. After a period of inactivity, he revived Position Chrome in 2005 and adopted The Panacea name. The label became a continuing setting for his own productions and collaborations.
Chrome Classics Vol. 1 brings together Jungle Techno, Make It Last with Current Value, The Minotaur with Counterstrike, and Krazee Eyez with Limewax. His mixes for Position Chrome and PRSPCT also connect drum and bass with hardcore and crossbreed. Away from The Panacea, Mootz has explored dark ambient music as m², pronounced “Squaremeter”, keeping that work under a separate alias.
