Behind the music
About THUGWIDOW.
THUGWIDOW was the ambient jungle project of Alex Lowther-Harris, combining chopped breaks with darker moods and ambient textures. His catalogue spans cassette releases and vinyl records, including work for Western Lore, Warehouse Rave, and Astral Black.
The four-track Post Modern arrived on Sneaker Social Club in June 2021. It brought his irregular approach to jungle into tracks such as Invisible Shell of Energy and The Sacrifice, with pads and atmosphere running alongside the breakwork.
On 27 March 2026, Lowther-Harris released the 121-track collection SWUN SUNGZ and announced the end of THUGWIDOW. Gathering unreleased material and collaborations, he presented it as a farewell and said its proceeds would go to the RSPB.
