Behind the music

About Trisector.

Trisector is a Finnish producer and DJ whose music spans drum and bass, breakbeat, and dub techno. Based in Helsinki, he is part of the Science Helsinki collective, and was already producing as one half of breakbeat duo Takomo before his releases on Med School.

Morning Rain / Structured Light introduced his solo work to the label’s catalogue in 2009. Its two sides showed different interests: Med School presented Morning Rain in an old-school, atmospheric drum and bass context, while describing Structured Light through its tech-driven, neuro-influenced approach. The download edition also included Blindspot, made with fellow Finnish producer Naraka. Lifeforms / Trace Of A Smile followed on Med School that year, with the Escapism EP arriving through DSCI4 in 2016.

His later solo releases opened another route. Quiet Balance explored dub techno, and 2023’s Red Shift developed that work into four extended tracks on Signature Dark. The label described their echoes, reverbs, and hypnotic techno rhythms as retaining traces of his drum and bass background.
