Turno

Turno is a drum and bass producer and DJ rooted in jump-up. Speaking to UKF in 2023, he connected his name with that sound while describing a growing interest in collaborative songwriting. Working with singers and other producers gave him new ways to develop a track.

Rave Out, made with Skepsis and Charlotte Plank, came from a writing camp in January 2023. Turno described a room in which different contributors could handle writing, recording, and production together. The experience helped him move from building a track around his own ideas towards shaping a shared song, with his drum and bass approach contributing to the arrangement.

That willingness to work beyond a single formula sits alongside the jump-up scene in which he developed. DJ Mag’s coverage of the style places Turno among the producers helping carry it forward, but the wider genre debate does not mean every experiment or collaboration needs a different tag. His own account makes the continuity clearer: exploring songwriting could happen alongside the music his established listeners already knew.

His public work has also included On Your Mind UK, a mental-health initiative discussed in the same 2023 interview. He spoke about helping younger people understand mental health and making space for conversations within the music community, connecting those aims with his motivation to make music.
