Verbz

London-based MC and vocalist Verbz has carved out a distinct place within contemporary drum and bass through a style built on restraint, clarity and atmosphere rather than constant hype or aggression. Known for his smoky tone, conversational delivery and reflective writing style, he has become closely associated with the deeper and more musical side of the genre, regularly moving between liquid, minimal and jazz-influenced production spaces.

Across releases with labels including The North Quarter, 1985 Music, Overview Music and CIA Records, Verbz has developed a catalogue that prioritises mood, pacing and emotional detail. His collaborations with producers such as Satl, Alix Perez, Workforce, GLXY, Waeys and Molecular have helped shape a modern vocal drum and bass sound that feels grounded in both soundsystem culture and late-night introspection.

Rather than treating the vocal as a dominant centrepiece, Verbz often works directly within the groove of a track, allowing his phrasing to sit naturally alongside rolling drums, soft atmospherics and spacious low-end. That approach has made him a strong fit across both club-focused releases and more headphone-driven listening projects.

Alongside his recorded output, Verbz has built a reputation through live performances that lean into intimacy and control over theatricality. Whether appearing on stripped-back minimal rollers or warmer liquid productions, his work consistently carries a sense of patience, detail and understated presence that has made him one of the most recognisable voices in modern UK drum and bass.
