Villem

Villem is a British drum and bass producer whose catalogue includes both solo work and the partnership Villem & McLeod. Their recordings bring an interest in melody and musical development into drum and bass, with collaboration providing room for different ideas to become part of the same track. Speaking to UKF in 2016, the pair described Another Star as an important moment in the development of their shared approach.

The No More Games EP on Spearhead Records documents that partnership in 2016. Their connection with the label developed through work involving Riya, while recordings such as Spiritual Value appeared through Horizons Music. The catalogue gives listeners a way to follow the partnership across different outlets without assuming that every Villem release has the same collaborator.

Villem later developed MURKT as his own label. In a 2019 interview, he discussed the need for an outlet that could make room for music beyond the lighter material associated with some of his earlier releases. It also connected with his wider studio work, including mixing and mastering. Running the label gave those interests a setting alongside the music he released elsewhere.

The melodic side remains visible in his later solo catalogue. LSB’s Footnotes announced the Moonstruck EP for October 2026, with Love Is Everything among its advance tracks. That release connects another stage of his work with the musical strand documented in the earlier partnership, while leaving room for the different moods and production interests represented by MURKT.
