Beats In Mind uses drum and bass to support a cause close to its founder. pyxis conceived the project on World Mental Health Day in October 2019, after seeing producers share their experiences and support one another. Its Headsbass compilations raise funds and awareness for mental health charities.
The early volumes brought together Chris.SU, Furney and Lady Emz, and Winslow. Ben Soundscape recorded with SOFi MARi, while Collette Warren worked with Facing Jinx and Loz Contreras. Instrumental tracks and vocal collaborations share space in a series built around contributions from across the scene.
Headsbass has continued through successive volumes, and the Head2Head series added another collaborative project. The charitable purpose gives these releases a shared reason to exist, even when the producers approach the music differently.
