Clen and Christal founded Smooth N Groove Records, operating between Northampton and Washington, DC. Its first release was Jrumhand’s Beaches & Countryside in May 2016, setting out a musical remit of atmospheric, funky, and soulful drum and bass.
Furney, Madcap, Payback, and Dramatic became part of the catalogue. A 2026 anniversary collection gathers music from the label’s first decade, alongside individual projects such as Fluid Form’s Crosstown Traffic and Kipsy’s Circuit Break.
From 2017, the founders also worked with SoulStructure and Scott Allen on Soul Deep versus Smooth N Groove events, bringing artists from the releases together outside the studio.
