Doc Scott started ThirtyOne Recordings in 1994 with Technology / Chillin Out, released under his Octave One name. Shadow Boxing followed as Nasty Habits, establishing a label whose early identity came directly from its founder’s productions.
After a break, it returned in 2013 as 31 Recordings, also styled ThirtyOne, with music from Overlook. Doc Scott’s Future Beats approach made space for different directions within drum and bass, and Future Beats: The Album brought those interests together in a larger project.
Later releases include Serum’s Species EP, Bungle’s Cocooned, and Hidden Turn’s The Ride. Jump-up has a place alongside the deeper material, reflecting the range of music Doc Scott chooses for the label.
