NC-17 - Bongo Inc (Dispatch Recordings Premiere)

NC-17 keeps things deliberately stripped back on Bongo Inc, building the track around hypnotic percussion, rolling sub pressure and a groove that rarely loosens its grip. Rather than chasing dramatic switch-ups or oversized moments, the focus remains firmly on movement, allowing the rhythm section to do the heavy lifting throughout.

Layered tribal percussion provides the track's identity, weaving around tightly programmed drums and a low-end foundation that feels engineered for longer blends. Every element occupies its own space within the mix, creating a sense of control that becomes increasingly effective as the arrangement develops. Small shifts in rhythm and texture provide just enough variation to keep the groove evolving without disrupting its momentum.

What stands out most is the track's patience. NC-17 resists the temptation to overcrowd the arrangement, allowing the percussion and sub frequencies to generate tension naturally. The result is a piece of drum and bass that feels equally suited to deep dancefloors and technical DJ sets, delivering weight without relying on obvious impact points. It is understated on the surface but highly effective once it settles into the mix.

Already finding support from selectors including Ant TC1, Goldie and The Sauce, Bongo Inc has quickly established itself as one of the standout cuts from the forthcoming No Lives Forever LP. Featured on the second digital sampler from the album via Dispatch Recordings, the track offers another glimpse into a project built around precision, restraint and groove-led system pressure.
