Drum & Bass UK premieres Sequence V12 (Connected), the closing track from Noise Souls’ debut album Sequence, released via Dirtbox Recordings.
A phone alert is usually designed to interrupt a moment. Here, Noise Souls turns that language of everyday digital cues into the track’s central musical idea: the tick of a message being sent, the bing of a new notification, and the clustered pings of familiar apps. Those sounds appear as motifs across the arrangement, giving Connected a playful concept without losing its focus as a drum & bass record.
Beneath it all, a driving bassline keeps the groove moving. The production lets the electronic details catch the ear, then returns to the low-end momentum before the idea can become a novelty. It is a clever piece of construction, finding musical use in sounds that normally pass by unnoticed.
Sequence brings together the 12 tracks from Dirtbox Recordings’ Tape Pack Series, which delivered one new Noise Souls release on the first day of each month across a year. The album is available digitally on Beatport and Spotify from 28 August, with its worldwide digital, vinyl and CD release following on 11 September.
