NRV – Dealing Cards (Vibe City)

Drum & Bass UK is proud to premiere Dealing Cards, the latest release from Puerto Rican duo NRV, arriving via Vibe City. Blending soulful musicality with crisp dancefloor production, it's a track that favours atmosphere and groove as much as impact.

The introduction immediately establishes the mood through delayed vocal stabs, sweeping pads and warm piano chords that carry a subtle jazz influence. Reversed vocal harmonies gently pull each phrase forward, creating a natural sense of movement while the arrangement takes its time to unfold. Rather than rushing to the drop, Dealing Cards allows its musical ideas to breathe, giving the opening a cinematic quality.

When the drums arrive, the track opens up without losing its laid-back character. Snappy percussion, an infectious hi-hat groove and a restrained wobbling sub bass provide the foundation, while the vocal harmonies expand both melodically and across the stereo image. A later breakdown revisits the piano and delayed vocal motifs before introducing darker synth pulses for the closing section, adding subtle tension while maintaining the track's melodic focus.

Made up of veteran DJs and producers Trixx and Judge, NRV represent an exciting new voice for drum & bass from Puerto Rico. Drawing on more than two decades of combined experience, the duo bring together technical precision, strong musicality and Caribbean influences as they continue to build momentum with releases across a growing number of labels.
