Medicine’s Just Walk Away starts with its heart on its sleeve, then gives the bassline a chance to misbehave. Released on 25 September through Vibe Chemistry’s Make Your Era, the single finds the Ascot producer bringing a soulful vocal into a tune with plenty of bounce once the drop arrives.
There’s a lovely sense of space around that opening vocal, with a deeper voice underneath adding a darker shade before the drums take over. The drop hits hard, but the groove has a lightness to it: the snare snaps, the drums roll, and the bass keeps breaking out of its steady pulse to jump around. Those little bursts of movement give the tune a playful streak beneath the more earnest vocal.
Medicine has already picked up support from K Motionz, Ed Solo, Sub Zero, and Vibe Chemistry. Here, it’s easy to hear the appeal of a track that keeps its vocal close while giving the rhythm enough energy to carry a dancefloor. As the synths build around the hook, that contrast becomes more pronounced.
The breakdown brings things back to a few piano-like notes and a finger-click clap, giving the vocal a quieter setting after the bustle of the drop. It’s a welcome change of pace. The bass may be the thing that gets you moving, but the voice gives Just Walk Away something to hold on to between those livelier moments.
