Dark Matter / Off The Rails
it is Jev
it is Jev pairs the bouncing synths of Dark Matter with Off The Rails’ train-horn build and energetic drop on a two-track release for Dirtbox Recordings.
Big echoes and bouncing synths make Dark Matter feel like a trip into a strange wonderland. On it is Jev’s latest two-track release for Dirtbox Recordings, that playful entrance leads straight towards a massive drop. There is a rollercoaster quality to the ride, with the synths providing the bounce before their meatier counterparts take over.
The drums land confidently beneath them. Their firm delivery gives the oversized synth sounds something solid to push against, and that combination supplies the track’s physical appeal. For all the suggestion of another world in its opening, Dark Matter has a very direct way of getting bodies moving.
Off The Rails approaches its drop more patiently. Wide, string-like synths spread across a comparatively sedate introduction, while atmosphere gradually gives way to a break. A synth resembling a train horn brings the title into focus, an unmistakable signal before the track accelerates.
When the drop arrives, the change is decisive. The spacious opening gives way to pure energy and purpose, with the kind of forward drive that makes this an easy candidate for a running playlist. That initial restraint makes the arrival feel all the more forceful.
Dark Matter / Off The Rails is released on Beatport and Spotify on 9 October 2026, with the wider release following on 23 October. Between the two, Off The Rails supplies the clearest moment of transformation: a measured approach, a horn-like warning, and then the urge to pick up the pace.
