Behind the music
About Abstract Elements.
Abstract Elements is the collaborative project of BOP and Diagram, producers from Saint Petersburg whose work explores drum and bass through minimal rhythms, electronic textures, and experimental structures. Their catalogue includes releases for Exit, Auxiliary, Invisible, and Demand Records.
Demand’s Acid Coke / Naprimer appeared in 2013, while the label also released Saturn, explicitly describing that track as neurofunk. The project’s broader identity has also been connected with autonomic and microfunk, rather than a single consistent production template.
In 2018, Abstract Elements released the Join Us EP on Invisible. Its tracks include Magnitogorsk and the Subwave collaboration Posthuman. The 667 EP followed through Microfunk Music in 2023, comprising Stickjaw, 667, and Static. Its credits name Alexander Dmitriev and Alexander Vershinin as writers and producers, while the label characterises the record as post-minimal drum and bass with acid synths, percussion, and sub-bass.
