Behind the music
About Bish.
Bish is a Bristol DJ and producer whose music grew out of the city’s independent party circuit. Residencies with Bristek and Rumble in the Jungle helped establish his place behind the decks before his productions reached a wider audience. His connection with Born on Road puts him among a crew shaped by Bristol’s sound-system culture and a broad appetite for bass music.
One important partnership has been with fellow Bristol producer Mandidextrous. Their 2021 collaboration Techno On My Mind arrived through ProgRAM, bringing a half-time introduction, forceful four-to-the-floor sections and drum and bass breaks into the same track. Mandidextrous has described Bish arriving at the studio with the vocal sample that gave the record its starting point, a small detail that captures the collaborative spark behind it.
His Born On Road catalogue includes Leng Riddim and Lemme Get Down, while his work as a DJ has taken him beyond the local nights where he began. He has appeared at Glastonbury, Boomtown and Outlook.
