Aries is a British jungle producer whose music brings reggae influences and sound system ideas into drum and bass. His history connects the Birmingham scene, Chopstick Dubplate, and Born on Road, with studio work and collaborative projects running alongside his DJ career.
In interviews, he has described a longstanding interest in reggae and jungle, with the culture around the music as important as the individual records. Tracks such as Herbsmoke became reference points for that connection, combining a recognisable reggae sensibility with the pace and breakbeat movement of jungle.
His collaborative network includes producers and crews working across related parts of the sound. Discussing his studio activity with Goat Shed in 2021, Aries connected his own production development with artists including Benny Page and Kelvin 373. The account describes a scene built through exchanges of ideas, recording work, and shared events.
The sound-clash tradition offers another way into that music. Aries has discussed taking the competitive energy and collective identity of those events into drum and bass settings, including the 2019 Clash at the Capital. Those performances show the culture and community surrounding his records, where shared musical roots and the response of a crowd give the studio work another life.
