Behind the music

About Charlotte Plank.

Charlotte Plank is an Australian-born British singer, songwriter, and producer who brings personal stories to jungle breaks, drum and bass, and alternative pop. She grew up going to festivals with her mum, and that early mix of live bands and dance music runs through both her collaborations and her own records.

Her voice reached a much wider audience in 2023 through Dancing Is Healing, made with Rudimental and Vibe Chemistry. The single reached number five in the UK and earned the three artists a Song of the Year nomination at the 2024 BRIT Awards. Rave Out, with Turno and Skepsis, followed in the same year.

On her solo material, Plank has drawn directly on the records she grew up with. Nightshift gives Groove Armada’s Superstylin’ a drum and bass reworking, with MC M.A.D returning to record his rap again. Discussing her music with UKF, she traced the ambient jazz, strings, and breaks of LTJ Bukem’s Producer 01 to stargirl and ellen, while Calibre helped inspire little miss sunshine. Those songs appeared together on her 2025 EP ClubLiminal.

There is often a quieter song underneath the club production. Temporary Friends, her collaboration with NOTION, began as a piano demo before he rebuilt it around her vocal. Their 2026 reunion Burberry also started as a slower song, written in 2024 and developed through live performances. Alongside crybby blue, it reflects the song-first approach she described to DMY: leaving room for the melody and the story before deciding how the production should sound.
