Behind the music
About Cutworx.
Cutworx is Russian producer Max Yudin, whose drum and bass developed from atmospheric and soulful writing into music with a stronger emphasis on bass and rolling rhythms. Based in the Moscow region when interviewed by RAM, he traced his first release to ASC’s Covert Operations in 2008. Early Good Looking Records and 720 Degrees releases were important reference points.
As his sound developed, he released through Fokuz Recordings, Occulti Music, and NexGen Music. His Zen Champ EP for ProgRAM brought several approaches together: he described Sides as influenced by techno drum and bass, while Rvanina grew around a robotic sound made on his Nord Rack 2.
Radio formed another part of his involvement. From 2015 he worked on a weekly show for roughly three years, bringing international and Russian producers into conversation. Later records include Uncle Erevan on Waterframes Music, followed by a collaboration with Bert H on See You There in 2026.
