About Ekko & Sidetrack.
Ekko & Sidetrack are Australian brothers Jeff and Jonathan Hansen, from Perth. Their drum and bass records combine songwriting and melodic material with an interest in the heavier end of the genre.
That range was already evident around their 2018 signing to Viper Recordings. Discussing Exotic Robotics, they described building a track around the imagined setting of a robot strip club, using the idea to guide its characters and sound palette. The record provides an example of the more technical side of their work, alongside the melodic direction developed across later releases.
Between 2020 and 2022, their catalogue included Paper Birds with Ruth Royall and Under Bright Lights with Twerl. After a European tour, they returned to writing and completed their debut album, Nostalgic For Reality, released in July 2023. Its release coincided with a headline show at The Court in Perth.
In 2024, they played Liquicity Festival as well as shows in Slovakia, Germany, France, New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia. Their subsequent catalogue included Pressure, a collaboration with Subsonic released in 2025.
