Behind the music

About Etherwood.

Etherwood is Edward Allen, a drum and bass producer, DJ, singer, and songwriter from Lincoln. His music draws on a background in playing instruments, with melody and vocals taking a central role in his electronic production.

His album catalogue began with the self-titled Etherwood in 2013 and continued with In Stillness in 2018. For the latter, he spent ten days in a cabin in the Finnish woods, writing away from everyday distractions.

That experience later informed the name and purpose of his own label, Stillness Music, launched in 2024 after his time with Med School and Hospital Records. He wanted an outlet for the calmer side of drum and bass and other music that fitted the same outlook.

Nature and time away from a usual studio have remained part of his working process. He has described building a small studio into a converted camper van, combining travel with writing. Stillness Music's catalogue includes the Shoreline EP and subsequent recordings, extending a project that treats tranquillity as a musical intention rather than a limit on what electronic music can express.
