Gabriella Bongo

Gabriella Bongo is a writer, producer and DJ from South London, making drum and bass with songwriting at its centre. She began producing on GarageBand at nine, taught herself piano and later studied sound engineering at ICMP London. That combination of musical curiosity and technical independence carries into her records: she writes, records and engineers her own work, as well as collaborating with singers.

Her debut EP, Unsettled Rhythms, arrived in 2024. Its four tracks included All Or Nothing with Liam Bailey and Still Hear Your Voice with Shayla Marie. Bailey and his manager encouraged her to develop the project, while Dogger helped her work on mixing and sound selection. The EP grew from personal experiences, giving its vocal collaborations a shared emotional thread.

After joining Hospital Records’ Women in Drum & Bass mentorship programme in 2024, she signed to the label in March 2025. Breathe, with TJ and Jo, became her first solo release there, following her appearance on Degs’ Spacesuit. In discussing the single, Bongo emphasised letting collaborators bring their own musical character to a session. It is an approach that leaves room for individual voices inside her soulful, melodic drum and bass.
