Drum & Bass Artist Profile, Discography & Events

Hive Drum and Bass Artist Image

Hive’s catalogue reaches from the sample-driven world of Working With Sound and Devious Methods to the heavier drum and bass of Blackout and Bring It On. The Los Angeles producer’s own archive keeps those early albums alongside the music he has taken into clubs, showing how much ground sits behind a single artist name.

Working With Sound appeared in 1997, followed by Devious Methods in 1998. The latter includes Ultrasonic Sound, a record that also became part of his later DJ repertoire through Dillinja’s remix. Rather than leaving the early catalogue behind, Hive has continued to draw on it alongside his darker productions.

His collaborations with Keaton, Echo, and Gridlok are another substantial part of that repertoire. Standing Room Only, with Gridlok, dBridge, Break, and Silent Witness, brings several of those relationships together; Violent Sound and Culture feature Hive, Keaton, Echo, and Gridlok.

The eighty-minute Live in Seattle mix, released through his own account in 2023, puts those records back into a set. He describes it as heavy drum and bass and jungle, pairing his own work with music by Digital, Spirit, and Dom & Roland. It is a useful companion to the albums: the producer’s catalogue heard through the ears of the DJ.
