Mozey is Michael Hitches, an Essex drum and bass producer and DJ who spent years on the other side of the decks before making a career in music. He was a raver first, with hardcore nights and jump-up sets shaping the kind of experience he wanted to create.
His early production leaned towards liquid. Over time, he began writing more of the music he had enjoyed hearing at raves, and releases on Serial Killaz and Souped Up helped establish that direction. Tracks including Hands In The Air VIP, High Energy, and Run (Part 2) belong to the jump-up strand that brought him a wider audience.
DJing became serious only after his productions started generating bookings. In his UKF interview, he recalled learning on the job at a seated, COVID-restricted event in Bristol, then watching other DJs and gradually finding his confidence. The exuberant performer people know now did not arrive fully formed.
His working life also took a few turns before music became full-time. Plumbing and mechanical engineering led to further study and a job handling sound for films and adverts. That background helps explain the patience behind the performance: years of making tracks, building skills, and working another job came before the bigger stages.
