Indivision is a drum and bass project from Tallinn, Estonia, with a catalogue that gives melody and atmosphere an important place alongside bass and drums. In a 2019 interview with EKM, producer Markus discussed the project’s development and the practical work behind its recordings. The conversation described Indivision as a duo at that time, while its own release account provides a continuing home for the music.
The Purple Vision EP is a useful introduction to that sound. Released in 2019, it brings together electronic textures and melodic drum and bass, with the artist’s catalogue placing it within a liquid-influenced strand of the project. The music is not presented as a set of identical moods: its production and arrangements leave room for different shades within a recognisable melodic approach.
Indivision’s earlier catalogue includes Secret Vision and Rubik’s Cube, with releases subsequently appearing through labels including Liquicity and Beta Recordings. The EKM interview also discussed remixes of the project’s music by other producers. Those versions form part of the release history, while remaining distinct from the original recordings and from the styles Indivision produces itself.
Markus also described influences beyond drum and bass, naming Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, and Modjo, alongside sounds encountered through walking and watching television. Running his own label was a practical decision as well as a musical one: he wanted a home for unreleased tracks and felt that promotion should be a meaningful part of what an imprint offered. That combination of listening widely and understanding the release process provides another way into Indivision’s melodic music.
