Kallan HK is an American drum and bass producer and DJ whose interest in the music began with a visit to London. A night at Fabric in 2012 introduced her to a scene she wanted to become part of. Back home, she started learning to DJ, then moved into production a couple of years later.
Her early work included Slow Motion on Viper Recordings in 2017. So Much Pain / They Live followed through ProgRAM in 2018, bringing her music into the wider RAM Records family. She moved to Los Angeles that year, while continuing to develop her production largely through her own study and experimentation.
In a UKF interview, she described aiming for dancefloor music with a more technical, underground edge. Science fiction also supplied ideas: Future Shock reflected that interest, while Flight Path had a more literal starting point in the experience of taking off from an airport. Both were released through ProgRAM in 2019.
Her DJ background gives those ideas a practical setting. She has spoken about the older drum and bass she enjoys playing alongside newer material, without treating those preferences as a rule for everything she writes. The result is a project with a clear club focus and room for personal interests to shape the atmosphere, titles, and sound of individual tracks.
