Behind the music

About Krakota.

Krakota is Seb Inwood, a Bournemouth-raised drum and bass producer whose music combines melodic writing with a strong rhythmic drive. His recordings for Hospital Records include the 2016 debut album Strange System, followed by material that explores both the musical and more direct sides of his sound. The catalogue gives listeners several entry points, from full-length listening to tracks made with a DJ set in mind.

The See For Miles EP is one example of that range. Its release notes connect liquid drum and bass with funk and rolling rhythms, while Hot Rain brings Dynamite MC into the record. Rather than using a vocalist only as decoration, the track places that contribution alongside the bass and drum work that gives the EP its movement.

By 2026, Inwood was based in Cape Town and developing Rhythm House, his own label. Speaking to UKF, he described an interest in uplifting drum and bass influenced by house music, a direction he had been exploring for several years. The label’s opening release, Hold On, introduced that focus, while its wider purpose included creating opportunities for emerging producers.

That interest in supporting others connects with his own experience of receiving feedback when he was young. Inwood recalled sending music to Simon Bassline Smith as a teenager and valued the encouragement he received. Rhythm House brings the recording and mentoring sides of his work together, giving him a place to develop his own musical direction while helping other artists move their ideas towards finished records.
