L Plus is Martin Jaňák, a drum and bass producer from Bratislava whose music has ranged from large-scale club tracks to a more jungle-driven direction. His musical background began well before drum and bass: he played flute, taught himself guitar, and spent time in bands, while also studying architecture.
Releases through Viper Recordings helped introduce his work to a wider audience before his association with Technique Recordings. The label became home to Hideout, his debut album, released in 2017. He spent a year working intensively on it, describing the process as demanding but valuable for the improvements it brought to his production.
The album included collaborations with John B, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, and Muffler. His shared affection with John B for 1980s soundtracks made their collaboration a natural fit. Cinematic, made with Muffler, explored a heavier halftime feel and became a track L Plus liked to save for the end of a set.
The record's different tempos and textures gave him room beyond a single club formula. His later artist profile describes a return with a stronger jungle emphasis, adding another chapter to that history. For listeners arriving through the newer material, Hideout offers a chance to hear the earlier, more theatrical side of his production.
