Behind the music
About Lexurus.
Lexurus is a Dutch drum and bass producer from The Hague whose music combines strong melodies with an interest in different rhythms and textures. His Waveline EP on Liquicity made that range especially clear, bringing dancefloor tracks, liquid, and halftime into one release.
Crystalize was the turning point. After a period of making music he did not feel ready to release, new drums and older synthesizer sounds helped him find a direction he was happy with. The track became the starting point for the 2021 EP, which he filled with new material rather than simply collecting previous singles.
The collaborations brought different strengths into that writing. Polygon contributed the title track’s melody and vocal processing, while Dualistic wrote its lyrics and worked with Lexurus on Continua. Singer Rhode helped take Magnify in a direction he had not initially expected.
Elsewhere, Oblivion gave him a break from full-tempo drum patterns, and the Amen-based Reminiscence supplied a liquid moment with Roses on vocals. That variety was deliberate: he wanted room to experiment, with influences reaching beyond drum and bass to artists such as Flume and SG Lewis.
