Loxy is a London drum and bass DJ and producer, and the founder of Cylon Recordings. His career developed through pirate radio and the club culture around Metalheadz and Renegade Hardware. Production grew out of the desire to play music that was uniquely his own, rather than simply obtain the same exclusive records as other DJs.
Speaking to UKF, he recalled making an early track in Bizzy B’s studio in 1993. His connections with Ink, Kemistry, and Storm developed through record shopping and Underground FM. Kemistry and Storm invited him to play Metalheadz after hearing his radio sets, linking his pirate-radio background with the Blue Note club nights.
Collaboration became a substantial part of his studio practice. Loxy described himself as bringing the atmosphere and ideas to his partnership with Resound, whose technical approach complemented his own. Unlike his sessions with Ink and Dylan, which took place together in the studio, the Resound partnership also worked across distance.
The pair’s 2023 Dispatch Dubplate 20 captured a deep, minimal, and percussive strand of their work. Alongside The Ebony Blade and Psyche Remix, it included Lik Walls with Skeptical. Loxy had explained that some productions remained personal dubplates for years before release, allowing recordings familiar from his sets to reach a wider audience later.
