Proxima is a Dutch producer whose work moves between drum and bass and dubstep. Early releases appeared on Shogun Limited, play:musik, and Crunch, before a turn towards dubstep in 2011 brought a run of records on Tempa.
That period produced the debut album Alpha in 2014. Its guest list connected voices and producers from across bass music, with P Money on Pressurized, DRS on Smog, and Icicle on Redshifted.
A renewed focus on drum and bass followed in 2015. Proxima’s stated aim was to bring the space of dubstep into faster production, an approach reflected in releases such as Point Of Focus for Hospital Records and Sens8 for Shogun Audio. His more technical material also found homes at Blackout Music and Neodigital, including the latter label’s Ruff Scuff EP.
