Behind the music

About Revaux.

Revaux began as the partnership of brothers Ru and Joe Brooks. Their name comes from Rievaulx, the North Yorkshire village where they grew up, shortened into a spelling that kept the pronunciation “reevo”.

Speaking to Slinkie Music in 2014, the brothers described a musical background that fed directly into production: Joe played drums, while Ru played bass guitar. Their studio roles were less fixed than that might suggest, with either brother able to work on the bass or drums. At the time, they cited Stray, Hybris, Mefjus, and Octane & DLR among the producers informing their early technical direction.

Their releases include the Hypnosis EP on Flexout Audio, the Sacred EP on Vandal Records, and Follow Me / The Tunnel on Ekou Recordings. Revaux also became involved in Rotations, the Bristol collective. In a UKF interview, Ru explained that it brought people who already knew one another together through a more recognisable shared platform.
