Behind the music

About Rufige Kru.

Rufige Kru is Goldie’s collaborative production identity, with a history stretching from the early jungle records to Alpha Omega. It has never depended on one permanent line-up: the name gives Goldie a place to work with other producers outside the records released simply under his own name.

Terminator and Dark Rider belong to that early history, while Malice in Wonderland and Memoirs of an Afterlife gave the project an album-length setting in 2007 and 2009. The tracks remain connected to Metalheadz, where new editions and remasters have kept the earlier material available alongside later work.

For Alpha Omega in 2025, Goldie worked with Submotive, also known as James Davidson, his partner in Subjective. Released through London Records, the album includes Cleveland Watkiss on Goldikus and CASISDEAD on Still the Same. Its credits put the collaborators’ contributions alongside Goldie’s rather than presenting Rufige Kru as another solo artist.

The same year brought a remastered Terminator EP through Metalheadz. Those two releases make a useful pair for newcomers: the early record and a new album, more than three decades apart, both carrying the Rufige Kru name.
