Behind the music
About The Caracal Project.
The Caracal Project is the electronic music project of French producer and DJ Félix Burnod. Drum and bass provided an entry point, but his releases also make space for other tempos and a close relationship between music and visual design.
He discovered Noisia’s Outer Edges while studying away from home in 2016. Their records and radio show became reference points as he learnt production. After signing Go Get Some and Botfonk to NËU, he spent time in the studio with Phace, an experience he has described as helping him develop his own judgement and loosen restrictions on his writing.
The independently released Modern Intimate marked another change. Created during lockdown, its two tracks brought a more personal focus to his work. He made the accompanying visuals himself and chose to release the music directly, preserving the connection between its timing, imagery, and emotional context.
His catalogue also includes the 4WD EP on Pilot. and collaborations with IMANU. Through his Patreon, he shares production videos, samples, and feedback.
