Behind the music
About Warhead.
Warhead is a drum and bass producer and DJ from Preston whose records have appeared on Sub-liminal Recordings, Grid, and Co-Lab. He learned production by experimenting in Ableton, developing his approach through making tracks and revisiting what worked in earlier sessions.
The Bludclart Dubplate EP documents an early connection with Sub-liminal, with tracks including Triggered, Talk Sense, and Don’t Test. A later Grid release, Stranger Things, followed a period in which he used the lockdowns to reassess his production. In a 2022 interview, he spoke about the value of understanding the result he wanted before beginning a track, rather than repeatedly repairing older ideas.
That interview also addressed a frequent misconception about his location: despite being associated with Manchester through bookings and online support, he was based in Preston. His Sub-liminal catalogue continued with Chopsaw in 2025 and Empty The Till in 2026.
