SHY FX launched Digital Soundboy in London in 2005, building a label around drum and bass and wider bass music. Breakage, B.Traits, Benny Page, and Dismantle were among its contributors, with Benga and Skream also appearing in the release history.
After a period without new releases, Shy FX and Breakage brought Digital Soundboy back in 2021. A long-discussed plan to make a body of work together became Darker Than Blue, introduced by Michael Knight. The collaboration returned the label to releasing music through a partnership already closely connected to its history.
