Russian producer PRAGON makes his Dirtbox Recordings debut with The Journey EP, a three-track introduction to the drum and bass project of Dmitry Komin. Today, we premiere its closing track, Alarm Street.
A simple two-step and a female voice set the track in motion before keys from an old piano introduce a stark two-note melody. Strings gradually build around it, adding tension without giving away the full force of the drop.
When it lands, a substantial syncopated bassline moves underneath sharp, alarm-like stabs. The arrangement repeatedly changes shape around that central rhythm, occasionally interrupting the expected timing with a brief displacement that makes the groove feel as though it has gained an extra beat. It is a small shift, but one that pulls the track sideways before the rhythm locks back into place.
PRAGON keeps introducing variations as the track develops, pushing the piano, strings, vocal fragments, and mechanical percussion into an increasingly industrial setting. Rather than relying on the bassline alone, Alarm Street finds its character in the tension between its rigid impact and those less predictable rhythmic turns.

The Journey EP is available through Dirtbox Recordings on Beatport and Spotify from 25 September, ahead of its worldwide release on 9 October 2026. Listen and buy here.
