Fr4ktion brings three distinct shades of liquid drum and bass to Lucid Transmissions EP, a concise Vibe City release built around atmosphere, melody, and dependable rhythmic weight. Each track has its own temperature, but the EP holds together through a consistent balance of spacious synth work and tightly controlled breaks.
Vibin opens with broad, airy pads that immediately give the track a real sense of scale. The breaks stay tight beneath them, keeping the arrangement moving without disturbing its warmth. It is a straightforwardly inviting opener, but the detail is in the room Fr4ktion leaves around the melodies: expansive enough to feel unhurried, yet still shaped for the dancefloor.
Reason to Survive takes the more emotional route. An open arpeggio and string-like pads build patiently into a particularly beautiful central melody, with additional synths and instrumental layers gradually widening the picture. A lower synth enters with a vocal stab treated in delay and reverb, while the sub bass rolls underneath rather than forcing the track forward. The result has a gentle lift to it, with the arrangement allowing its elements to arrive naturally instead of chasing an immediate peak.
The closing Don’t Let Go introduces a darker edge without losing Fr4ktion’s identity. Its extended introduction feels almost eerie at points, drawing on piano touches and discordant, string-like pads before the drop lands with real solidity. There is something reassuringly functional about it: the drums and bass feel reliable, the energy is clearly placed, and the track has the kind of structure that should make it an easy selection in a liquid set.
Across three tracks, Lucid Transmissions EP makes its point without overextending it. Fr4ktion moves from open, uplifting pads to deeper melodic writing and a more shadowed finale, while retaining a clean sense of control throughout.
