Two of Evolution Chamber’s founding acts join forces on Prayer, while Gydra make their official label debut with Ugly Boy. The second EC100 sampler pairs them through scale and bass impact, although the details driving each track are quite different.
Magnetude and Task Horizon’s Prayer, featuring Yush!, opens with strings and tabla that give it a strong Indian influence. Those sounds remain part of the arrangement when the drop brings in deep, broad bass. The contrast between the percussion’s detail and the bass’s spread gives the heavier section its character.
Occasional shifts into 4x4 alter the rhythm without displacing those opening motifs. It is a large, recognisably Evolution Chamber sound, with the sitar-like strings and tabla retaining their place around the bass rather than being discarded once the introduction has done its job.
Ugly Boy starts with a snappy synth riff before a higher, turbo-like sound takes on the role of a riser. The drop brings loose drums and heavy, thumping bass, its sci-fi feel coming from the sharp contrast between that low end and the accelerated synth above it.
The jet-like noise returns through the track, repeatedly adding a sense of speed. Each appearance lifts the energy around the heavier rhythm below, making that recurring sound more than an introduction effect.
