Real Life

Friction

Friction returns with Real Life, a vocal-driven anthem and the first single from his new SYNERGY project, released via Elevate Records.

Elevate Records Released 11 July 2025

Friction kicks off his bold new chapter with Real Life, the first single from his ambitious SYNERGY project. Backed by the trusted Elevate Records imprint, the track sees the legendary DJ and producer blend emotional depth with high-impact production, setting the tone for what looks to be his most daring work yet.

Featuring stirring vocals from rising talent Blythe, Real Life is built for maximum effect. The drop hits with precision, yet the track retains a melodic core that gives it crossover appeal without losing its DnB grit. It’s a polished, confident statement that feels equally at home in a festival set or a club rinse-out.

SYNERGY is more than just a project name. It represents Friction’s vision for merging elements: vocalists, visuals, and genre influences into a unified experience. With three years of development behind it, the energy is focused and intentional. This is not just another single. It’s the opening salvo of a full-scale return.

Friction’s track record needs no introduction. From early underground roots to helming BBC Radio 1's DnB show, founding Shogun Audio and Elevate, and clocking hundreds of millions of streams, he’s long proven his place in the top tier. But Real Life suggests he’s nowhere near finished evolving.

Expect more releases and a new live experience to follow. For now, Real Life is already making a strong case as one of this summer’s defining drum and bass anthems.
