Albees is an Italian drum and bass DJ and producer, real name Alberto Curci, who has played an active role in the genre since the early 2000s. With roots deeply embedded in the Italian D&B scene, he has shared decks with significant names and nurtured the culture in his home country. Recently, he has expanded his repertoire to include music production, crafting a sound defined by rolling, natural-feel drums and heavy, distorted tech-bass, reflecting his affection for dusty vinyl tones, early funk, classic breakbeats and ’90s hip hop.
Following his long tenure as a DJ, Albees has emerged as a burgeoning producer. His sound is fluid and experimental, spanning deep, liquid, tech and dancefloor-focused styles. An anecdotal highlight from his career involves the track Drainpipe, so named after an impromptu studio mishap when the washing machine drain pipe broke mid-session—forcing him to pause and later save the project under that name.
Though specific dates for his more recent releases weren’t independently verified, his Beatport profile confirms a shift into production, including tracks such as Tell Me, Weapon, and Lizplay Compilation 2024, Vol. 5, with labels including Lizplay Records, Grid Recordings UK, Innerground, DeVice, Phase Records and more.
Albees remains a compelling presence in Italian drum and bass—bridging a respected DJ career with an evolving production journey, rooted in eclectic influences and marked by creative versatility.
