Blackfilm is a Hungarian electronic producer whose work moves between drum and bass, dub, ambient music, and downtempo. His self-titled debut appeared in 2008 and was reissued by Denovali in 2010. By the time of his later releases, he had relocated to London.
In 2010, he collaborated with Italian producer Eraldo Bernocchi on Along the Corridors. Denovali returned to that recording in 2018 with its first vinyl edition, alongside Blackfilm’s second solo album, Zero One Seven.
The latter developed ideas from his debut and the Bernocchi collaboration, combining synthetic sounds with samples. Its release notes describe an emphasis on atmospheres, bass, and beats, with drum and bass and darker dub influences sitting alongside vocal pieces and ambient passages. The digital EP Gone / Blackmark preceded the album in August 2018, offering two tracks that were not included on Zero One Seven.
