Circuits is the drum and bass partnership of Kasra and InsideInfo, taking their shared taste towards minimal arrangements, atmosphere, and rolling grooves. The project began as an experiment, with neither producer planning much beyond the first session. Once the ideas kept coming, a separate name made sense.
Their first EP, Coming Through, arrived on Critical Music in 2018. Drench was the track that made the direction click. Kasra brought a sketch, and InsideInfo realised that adding more detail was not necessarily helping: the point was to make the idea simpler and more effective.
That division of work helped establish the partnership. Kasra sketched the first EP’s tracks, they developed them together, and InsideInfo handled much of the EQ and mixing afterwards. Both were prepared to scrap an idea that was not working, keeping useful sounds for another session rather than forcing a track to completion.
Hardware also became part of the process. InsideInfo’s modular setup gave them something immediate to play with, creating sounds they could record and reshape. In their UKF interview, the pair were clear that the project should have its own character. References to older records were part of their background, rather than a brief to recreate them.
